A holistic approach to pipeline performance considers multiple aspects of operational and maintenance management. Flow instabilities, thermal issues, blockages and restrictions, containment loss and operational fluctuations all can impact the safe and economical transportation of media through pipeline assets. This is supported through understanding where the pinch points are in a system or where improvements can be made to improve efficiencies and throughput effectiveness. The Pipeline Performance Framework (PPF) is a comprehensive approach that draws on a collection of actionable measures which are designed to guide and provide improvement opportunities to enhance pipeline throughput and improve efficiencies. In this training course, expert Allan Browne explains the six main measures of this comprehensive approach to pipeline performance. Read more

This introductory video explores how the Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS) model has evolved to effectively manage the vast and complex datasets generated by Inline Inspection (ILI) activities. As ILI technology advances and sensors capture increasingly detailed information, managing, aligning, and analyzing this data has become a critical component of modern pipeline integrity management. Viewers will gain insight into the collaborative efforts of the PODS working group that developed a structured and scalable data model designed to handle hundreds of thousands of inspection records, supporting corrosion growth analysis, anomaly tracking, and long-term asset integrity. The session walks through the model’s design principles, demonstrates data loading with FME, and highlights best practices for integrating ILI data within a relational or geodatabase environment. About the PODS Partnership: Through the partnership between ROSEN’s Competence Club and the PODS Association, members gain access to specialized training and resources that bridge the gap between data management and pipeline integrity. This collaboration strengthens the industry’s shared commitment to improving safety, reliability, and competence through open standards, knowledge sharing, and innovation. By incorporating PODS learning materials into the Competence Club, ROSEN provides its members with the tools and insights needed to master the evolving world of pipeline data management. Read more
This webinar will provide a summary of the status of the updates to ASME B31.8 and ASME B31.8S to include specific chapters for hydrogen pipelines. The most significant content in each will be presented and discussed. The webinar will provide attendees with an appreciation of the key changes that have been made to previous code guidance contained in ASME B31.12. Meet the Expert Simon Slater is a Principal Integrity Engineer working for ROSEN Integrity Services, based in Houston, Texas. He has been working for ROSEN for 13 years. His areas of expertise are structural integrity assessment, metallurgy, material properties, material testing, welding engineering, and in-line inspection. Simon is an active member of PRCI, serving on the research steering committee, and DMC group. He is also a member of ASME B31.8 and is the deputy chair for the ASME B31.8 hydrogen task group. Prior to joining ROSEN, Simon spent 12 years in the steel industry, focusing on structural integrity of steel applications, pipe manufacturing, and research and development. Simon is an active contributor to industry research and technical development in the emerging fuels space. He is the project lead for the ongoing work to update ASME B31.8 and ASME B31.8S to include hydrogen chapters in each, and the master editor for the hydrogen chapter in API 1104. Read more
