This course introduces viewers to the versatility and potential of the Pipeline Data Logger (PDL) and its value to pipeline operators and servicing companies such as ROSEN. The course begins by defining what the PDL is, outlining its fundamental working principles, typical configurations, and core use cases. It then explores the PDL’s compatibility with different pipeline media types and its ability to be integrated with any tool capable of traversing a pipeline. Building on this foundation, the course explains how PDL data is gathered, processed, and presented. Viewers are then introduced to a wide range of practical applications, including identifying the causes and locations of gauge plate damage, analysing pig run behaviour, assessing known and unknown internal pipeline conditions, monitoring the progress of cleaning campaigns, and identifying geometrical challenges within a pipeline. Together, these applications demonstrate how PDL data can be used to enhance and fine‑tune pigging operations. Real‑world examples are used throughout the course to illustrate the practicality and effectiveness of the Pipeline Data Logger, before concluding with a summary of the key takeaways. Overall, this course serves as an introduction to one of ROSEN’s established and widely used technologies. It highlights how the PDL provides many advantages comparable to in‑line inspection tools, while serving a distinct and complementary purpose. By the end of the course, viewers will appreciate how a compact device attached to a pig can deliver detailed insight into pipeline behaviour and pigging performance. This data can be used to support informed, strategic decisions that promote pipeline safety, cleanliness, and optimal operational performance.   Meet the Expert Eyad Alhamouly is an Inside Sales Engineer within ROSEN’s Field Products & Services Business Line, supporting pipeline operators across Europe, Africa, and West Asia with tailored cleaning solutions that promote safe, efficient, and resilient pipeline networks.   Since joining ROSEN in early 2025, Eyad has applied his Mechanical Engineering background, shaped at the University of Twente, to develop technical configurations and commercial proposals that enhance pipeline cleanliness and throughput. With a strong interest in the energy sector, he is driven by helping operators achieve reliable, high quality infrastructure.   Eyad is particularly passionate about the Pipeline Data Logger (PDL) and its ability to transform traditional cleaning tools into insight driven solutions. He views the PDL as a form of “soft inspection,” bridging the gap between conventional cleaning and in line inspection by enabling continuous monitoring of debris and pigging performance. Through data led decision making, Eyad and his team help deliver long term value and optimized cleaning outcomes for operators. Read more

This course, designed by Dr. Edmund Bennett, builds on the introductory course 'An Introduction to Machine Learning' in the Pipeline Industry by providing relevant and practical examples of predictive analytics for external pipeline corrosion. Topics include input data, feature engineering, and the presentation of outputs. Model validation and common pitfalls to avoid are also covered. Designed for Asset Managers, Integrity Engineers, and Data Scientists, the course will help you develop a practical understanding of how machine learning models can be used to predict external corrosion metal loss, while emphasizing the importance of model validation and a holistic approach to pipeline integrity. Lesson 1 introduces the course objectives and the Integrity Analytics framework for pipeline integrity prediction. It then shifts to a more technical focus, covering the selection of predictive models, predictor (output) variables, and model inputs. Lesson 2 explores model validation, model outputs, and reporting processes. It concludes with a discussion on the importance of integrated service offerings.   Meet the Expert Edmund leads ROSEN’s Integrity Analytics team, delivering analytics consultancy globally. He has extensive experience managing data scientists and software developers using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies. With a strong background in software development, he has delivered solutions for local and cloud-hosted environments, including greenfield and complex brownfield ecosystems such as the HMRC NIRS UK tax system. Proficient in Python, Java, SQL, and Scala, Edmund also works with supporting technologies like Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, Git, SQL Server, Oracle DB, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. He specializes in data science, machine learning, and statistical modelling, particularly in challenging environments requiring clear vision and strategic execution. His expertise extends to risk management, regulatory compliance, and developing validated models for high-confidence decision-making. Edmund has worked across industries and has developed techno-economic simulations for wind turbine connections, IoT reporting dashboards, automation solutions, and engineering collaboration systems. Additionally, he provides direction in fine-tuning Large Language Models, agent-based simulations, and numerical models to ensure reliable, impactful outcomes. Read more

This webinar will provide a summary of the status of the updates to ASME B31.8 and ASME B31.8S to include specific chapters for hydrogen pipelines. The most significant content in each will be presented and discussed. The webinar will provide attendees with an appreciation of the key changes that have been made to previous code guidance contained in ASME B31.12. Meet the Expert Simon Slater is a Principal Integrity Engineer working for ROSEN Integrity Services, based in Houston, Texas. He has been working for ROSEN for 13 years. His areas of expertise are structural integrity assessment, metallurgy, material properties, material testing, welding engineering, and in-line inspection. Simon is an active member of PRCI, serving on the research steering committee, and DMC group. He is also a member of ASME B31.8 and is the deputy chair for the ASME B31.8 hydrogen task group. Prior to joining ROSEN, Simon spent 12 years in the steel industry, focusing on structural integrity of steel applications, pipe manufacturing, and research and development. Simon is an active contributor to industry research and technical development in the emerging fuels space. He is the project lead for the ongoing work to update ASME B31.8 and ASME B31.8S to include hydrogen chapters in each, and the master editor for the hydrogen chapter in API 1104. Read more
