Fundamentals of the Management of Geohazards During Operation (CS051F)

Fundamentals of the Management of Geohazards During Operation

This course is designed to offer comprehensive guidance on managing geohazards that impact operational pipelines in accordance with ISO standard ISO 20074:2019. The focus of the content lies in utilizing in-line inspection techniques for hazard identification and assessment. This method provides factual measurement data that shows whether the pipeline has experienced unexpected or unplanned loads whether these are external or operational. Changes can be tracked across subsequent inspections to reveal the activity state of geohazards and the level of threat they present to pipelines. Furthermore, it serves as a robust data source for threat evaluation, including structural assessments.

The course covers a broad spectrum of topics, encompassing an understanding of geohazard characteristics, ground conditions, and terrain. By the course's conclusion, participants will gain familiarity with key terminology, principles, and methodologies essential for safeguarding pipelines against the potentially catastrophic impacts of geohazards.
